Formation of bimetallic Ag-Pd nanoclusters via the reaction between Ag nanoclusters and P[d.sup.2+] ions
Article Abstract:
A systematic investigation is conducted of the mechanistic aspects of the Ag-Pd bimetallic cluster formation within sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse micelles by using in-situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). By analyzing the extended X-ray absorption fine-structure spectra of Ag-Pd bimetallic clusters it is able to study the reaction of Ag nanoclusters and P[d.sup.2+] ions and a formation of mechanism of Ag-Pd nanoclusters is proposed.

Genesis of bimetallic Pt-Cu clusters in reserve micelles investigated by in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
The formation mechanism of platinum-cooper (Pt-Cu) bimetallic clusters at the early stage within the water-in-oil microemulsion system of water/sodium bis(2-ethyl hexyl)sulfosuccinate/n-heptane by situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy is explored. The reduction of platinum and cooper ions and the formation of corresponding clusters are monitored as a function of the dosage of reducing agent, hydrazine (N2H4).

A simple method for measuring the size of metal nanoclusters in solution
Article Abstract:
A new method for estimating the size of nanoclusters is described which combines core/shell cluster synthesis, UV-vis and Mie theory. The core/shell approach enables the estimation of metal cluster sizes directly from the UV-vis spectra for metal nanoclusters such as Pd and from Mie's theory it is possible to estimate the Pd core size and the Au shell thickness directly from UV-vis.
